Welcome! This website brings together my love and academic and career history in politics, public affairs, television and town planning. Working in Westminster, London, and Brussels, Belgium, for the Policy Exchange think tank and then on UK Government and European Union policy running the offices of senior politicians, as well as being a Director in a European public affairs company, RPP Group, I was well placed to transition into the role of News Editor and Director of Communications at Latest TV, based in Brighton, England, which I undertook for nearly 4 years during the BREXIT negotiations and the Covid-19 pandemic.

Latest TV is one of the most dynamic local TV stations in the UK Local TV Network, being fully independent and producing agenda setting and dynamic news content daily. I was involved in producing and presenting politics shows around BREXIT, local and national budgets, local and UK general elections, and presented and produced a daily politics show, called The Vote. My other major television programmes were The Newspapers, The Footie Show and Telly Talk. Please see the Television section of this website, above, for an extensive library of my television work.

During the Covid-19 pandemic I retrained in town planning, gaining a First Class (Distinction) Master of Science degree in Town Planning and then becoming a Planning Officer at Adur and Worthing Councils and a Planning Consultant at DMH Stallard LLP. Whilst at DMH Stallard for over 2 years I led and worked on a wide range of residential and commercial planning applications, as well as appeals, enforcement issues, site appraisals, call for sites and local plan representations on behalf of clients. Please see the Town Planning section of this website, above, for an extensive library of my town planning work.

Having worked for over six years as a Parliamentary researcher for a Shadow Minister for the Environment in the House of Commons and for two senior Members of the European Parliament in Brussels and Strasbourg, and then over eight years within public affairs consulting at RPP Healthcare (part of RPP Group), where I became the Director of Policy and Advocacy, I have used my 3 years as a Planning Officer and Planning Consultant to grow into my current role as Account Manager at the planning communications consultancy, Chelgate Local. Please see the EU & Westminster Politics section of this website for more information and a pictorial history of my time working in British and European politics.

I am an experienced professional with a proven career history of working at a senior level in communications, television, the public policy industry and directly within politics for senior politicians at Westminster, Brussels and Strasbourg.

Newspapers

My career in the media began when I wrote football match reports for The Sports Argus from the age of 16 to 18 in the 1990’s. I have always been passionate about football and particularly Brighton & Hove Albion FC. I joined Latest TV as their News Editor in 2018, working there for nearly 4 years.

Westminster

I worked in the UK Parliament at Westminster for Greg Barker MP, the former Shadow Minister for the Environment.

Brussels

I worked for two MEPs in the Brussels Parliament; John Bowis OBE MEP and Marina Yannakoudakis MEP. This involved working on issues relating to the environment, transport and health, and I helped to write the report on the Cross-Border Healthcare Directive, as well as advising Ministers to help enable people to access healthcare abroad.

Strasbourg

Working for the European Parliament involved working in Brussels, but also in Strasbourg, the second ‘Parliament’ of the European Union.
